The trouble with Amber is that she wouldn't know if she is going to be leaving or stopping.
So I voted Evelyn.
If you were a fan of Dixon of Dock Green you could give her All as a middle name.

if your daughter was born with red hair then Amber would be a nice name or Siena again if born with red hair....

Yes, my daughter has a friend called Ebony, but you'd think she was Norwegian with her blue eyes and white/blonde hair.

I liked the Lola suggestion and I like Dolores too.

I heard a name shouted out many years ago I liked it and called my daughter the same, Tierra, but nobody calls her that but me, I don't likeTia much.

Dolores and Lola are versions of the same name.
Spanish for lady of sorrows (don't like that much) but do like the names .

Neve (when pron. "nevvay") is actually Italian for snow - a friend of mine named his daughter this. So there is potential for confusion!

Being totally pedantic, Neve is a description of a particular kind of snow. It's snow where the outer layer has frozen, leaving a soft inner. When you're walking on it with crampons, it is either strong enough to take your weight (bliss), or your foot goes through it into the softer stuff below (hell).

As far as names for wee babies go, how about Tiagra or Sora?

Congrats btw.

I'd prefer Xenon or Mirage, though Chorus would be rather nice.

Steer well clear of Gatorskin, however.
How about Colde Galibier? Mrs RM will think it's lovely until she watches the Tour coverage, then you are seriously knackered.

Congratulations by the way, if my experience is anything to go by, when she pops out you will immediately realise she doesn't look like a "whatever you had planned" but she will look like something you hadn't considered because she just will! The name chooses the baby, not the parents (as the wand seller in Harry Potter may have said)
I know someone whose nephew is called Harry Potter. He was born at around the time the first book came out. When his parents were asked "are you sure?" they apparently replied " it's a kids book - no one will remember it in a couple of years"

Hmmm - there are names which "generate a wary response" from teachers, born out of long experience?

I know - it is rough on the really pleasant, personable people called Dwayne, Dean, Chelsea, Jade, and a few others. And I apologise profusely to any on the board who bear those names, or who have given their children those names - you're cyclists, so I know you're OK.

[Psssst - have I done enough to dig myself out of that hole? Please tell me I have!]

But Amber is ...... sorry, on my list of names which make me wary. Having said that, it has slipped out of fashion a bit.
