My daughter refused my suggestion that she call her latest kid, Nancy.
Evelyn is a good name though.

Hmmm - there are names which "generate a wary response" from teachers, born out of long experience?

I know - it is rough on the really pleasant, personable people called Dwayne, Dean, Chelsea, Jade, and a few others. And I apologise profusely to any on the board who bear those names, or who have given their children those names ...........
Plus the kids who have names with idiosyncratic spelling . There are several I could mention but it would be very wrong of me to ridicule some kids parents on here in case anyone on here knows those kids.

Congratulations @AndyRM !

Hopefully you don't support Borussia Monchengladbach, but otherwise, we followed two rules: 1) Can you imagine yourself yelling the name across a playground and b) is there an acceptable short version, because that's what her friends will call her?

Thank you all for your kind wishes and suggestions. Our Working Titles selection has been expanded!

And as some have said, we are hanging fire until we meet her properly, Bambamber is the bumps current title.

To answer a few queries:

Fiona, which I think is a lovely name is also the name of my dads sister, so it would be a bit weird.

Using both Evelyn and Amber with our (self inflicted) double barrelled surname would guarantee daily kickings. We live in Wallsend...

If I could get away with a football related name it would be Paul, after Paul Wright who is a Killie legend. Unfortunately that's Sophs dads name. The other choice for a Killie cup winner is Dieter.

And music tribute wise my only other real offering is Tarja, which I've not suggested yet but I will this evening along with other ideas from this thread.

Finally, my mileage for 2015 was pathetic and I'm resigned to it being even worse over the next few years.

But honestly? I don't particularly care.

Sure, but think of all the adventures you'll have when she's older: I took my eldest cycle camping last year (just after she turned 4) and we had a family weekend away, cycling from Bristol to Devizes. You don't need to cycle far to get a workout if you're towing kids. I think we did our first trips out with the trailer when our eldest was about 6 months. Head over to the family cycling thread...
