Do you have 'names' for various types of cyclists ie one for begineers one for mountain bikers etc
?
I only ask because my friend who plays golf calls begineers 'rabbits' because they dig up the green !!!
In the states we call new cyclists" Noobs", a shortened term of "New Boot", an Army expression. If you are over 16 stone, you are a "Clydesdale" (Women are referred to as" Athenas", touchy 'bout the horse references) Racing Bikers are called "Roadies", and cyclists who are utility cyclists who eschew lycra kit and such are referred to as "Freds" (actually a very complex term in American Cycling Lexicon)
I've heard the word bent mentioned a few times but I'm not sure if that's refering to the cyclist or some kind of strange shaped bike. MAMIL is often used to describe middle aged men in lycra.

I was eating a sandwich and some cake in a cafe the other day in full lycra the other day when one of the four fellas at the table next to me called me the only gay in the village, unfortunately for him i am far too cool to react to a Little Britain based insult, a very stupid programme made by two very clever people, even when he felt it necessary to repeat it just in case i might not have heard it. Had a bit of a chat with one of them about my bike, he seemed to appreciate high culture.
