In 1977, I passed out of the Part 2 training and as a reward for my performance on the course was given a berth on HMS Alfriston for the Fleet Review
Brilliant couple of days, and when the order was given to "Splice the Mainbrace" , we "stood firm" as the Medical Branch does not participate at the same time as the Fleet
However the Skipper pointed out that as we were not in a Medical role we should partake - Tot 1
On Disembarking we arrived at HMS Vernon, and as we went through it was noted that as Medics we would not have had a tot, so we were taken into the mess and supplied - Tot 2
Returned to Haslar, where the Medical Branch then formally accepted their tot, and partook in the tradition - Tot 3
