I'm a life member in the English one. No problems at all, just show your card.
Admittedly it's a few years since I've been to Scotland, but I doubt it's changed.

It was always cheaper to join in Scotland*. A family member who did so has not had any issues visiting Welsh/ English sites.

*don't want to know if that's still true

They have a reciprocal with Historic NZ too. The New Zealand one includes English heritage too.

The one thing they don't cover is the car park charges. English NT have been replacing the membership cards with ones you can scan at the parking machines and charging more for non members or reciprocal people.....

Not sure about NT, but my memory is that with English Heritage, a family membership, or an adult membership that gets children in for free in England, only gets the adult in in Wales not the children as well.

NT member here. Never visited any NT sites in Scotland.
Did borrow my mates English Heritage cards, me and Mrs OTD blagged it into Edinburgh Castle, saved a decent amount!

Was an NT member and the Welsh equivalent Cadw, but both aren't interchangeable. Found we were spending more time in N Wales, so cancelled NT for CADW. The kids aren't interested now, so haven't renewed either.

NT Owned properties in Wales are free with NT membership.
after having a visit to york minster this week ruined by screaming children, deterring children with extra costs does not seem that bad of an idea. just need to find a way of stopping mobile phone obsessed parents now.,
It's the people holding up full size iPads to take a picture that I find most annoying.

Maybe you should get in touch with english heritage, suggest a nice bit of bank holiday roman infanticide re-enactment? Kids get in free.

Oh, you were asking about the National Trust.

Sorry,
