Each to their own and all that, but what great news that naturism this summer at Holkham Beach in north Norfolk is to be banned.

For years, we've been put off our picnics by the sight of silly old men flapping about the place. (it's always old men - never the Stockholm University Ladies netball team for some reason). Perhaps I'm becoming a bit of a prude in my old age, after all they're doing no harm (apart from to one's vision), but it will be great to see the back of them..... erm.. so to speak ^_^

Yes you probably are becoming a prude.

While I've no objection to people without their clothes wandering about, I'd never be one of them. I feel the cold far too much in England, even in a heat wave, for it to ever get warm enough for me to divest my hat, scarf, gloves, coat, jumper, fleece, shirt. Tshirt, trousers, undies and thick wooly socks on a summer's day!

Whatever happened to live and let live, you have the whole of the Norfolk coast for picnics where as the naturist had a very small part (no sniggering at the back).

Very sad for the news for the genuine clothes free people, the textiles win again. When will restriction on what people can or cannot do stop.

As for that part of the beach frequented by naturist is it not rather a long walk and out of the way to get to?

I am not a naturist ( do not want to make others feel small) however I hate to see people's pleasure being taken away from them.

Can't argue with any of that you textilist ^_^ - but I still won't miss them. I feel a bit mean now.

Should the WNBR be banned then.

If we follow the same logic, then it must.

Live and let live is my outlook.

We have a few "Nude" beaches down here in the South West, and the sight of a bit of flesh is not the end of the world.

We have a beach here in East Yorkshire at Fraisthorpe.

You don't wanna see it, you avoid the beach.

The naturists have a couple of hundred metres of beach, the textiles (love the word) have 25 + miles of seafront from Spurn point to Flamborough (that's about 40,200m), so it's really a bad show if naturists can't have their 200m?

Think of it like this - textiles get 99.5% of the beach/seafront - naturists get 0.5%....?

Is that % of beach or body covered

People getting upset about nudity reminds me of a story from an ex-colleague.

He was travelling round the Caribbean and was on a bus that stopped at road works. There was a waterfall nearby, and some local lads were swimming/dipping/washing naked. A woman on the other side of the bus took offence and had to point out how disgusting it was. When people asked what, she had to climb over people to get to the window to show them the lads, that were barely visible 100m away through the trees/bushes...

Sadly, some people go out of their way to be offended.

I think the big (sic) problem with this beach is people with other motives going there.

That's a major part of it I guess - the weird lot being mistakenly lumped in with the naturists - and us textiles are unable to tell which is which.
How about a compromise? - just make it a topless beach
