some info from du cane court web site

Tne urban legend has it that Hitler had earmarked it as his HQ if his invasion was successful. It was rumoured that Hitler had placed spies here and that he also found the construction a useful landmark for his air crews. "it was turn left at Du Cane Court and then head home for Germany" Whether this was true or not, the flats were quite an innovation at the time.

I don't recall Du Cane Court being set out in a swastika pattern and - spookily - I will be going past them in ten minutes time. I'll report back!

Its not Nazi design

Its Viking design

The Vikings used to lay out there Viks(settlementa next to the sea) in this manner, each building set out so that in the event of attack men at arms could rush from the exits at each end with out running into each other and causing a crush

Its been used again with a view to fire evacution and access in an emergency

What goes around comes around
