I went there when it first was opened but only briefly, seemed a bit boring to me and now I can't remember my 'log-in' details. Mind you as a 'liberal leftie' there's nothing there to interest me, I'm not radical enough to bother arguing.

Im in the middle so everyone shouts me.

And thats even before they discover I'm Jewish.

Became a little livelier with an influx of refugees from BikeRadar!

The latest of two or three events that changed things.

I think that is what it was created for

a sort of black hole for all the political arguments

and somewhere that the mods could tell people to go to when they start to say things that are off topic for here

seems to have worked well
Yes I think it has.

I think the result is that the proper forum is much more relaxed than in the old days. Have you noticed that we haven't had any huge angry flounces of late? No long, very serious, rants.

More threads about chain lube!

Main forum has a significant number of non-cycling chats - nothing wrong with that, friendly. When you have a wide range of chats on unconstrained subjects some will be more controversial and some forum members don't like controversial discussions (where different posters have strongly differing views).

So, to accommodate everyone, more controversial views are sectioned off so everybody happy.

Personally I find most of the discussion interesting and useful, interesting to understand how any why people hold differing views to my own. Occasionally daft "oh yes you did, oh no I didn't" starts (I'm bound to gave been in one or two) but encouraging that they resolve themselves without any authority intervention.

Why have it then? Sounds like a cesspit!

That's where the cesspit is. It used to leak onto the general cycling forum, so it got separated as it was a nightmare for moderators to keep the silly spats from spilling over into the cycling stuff (I was a mod for a while). So Cycling stuff stays here, and if you want to argue about Politics and stuff, you go over there.
