On my way to work this morning I stopped at traffic lights behind a truck. The lights change and I clip-in (I distinctly heard a clip) and peddle slowly whilst the truck builds up speed. Once it goes going I start to cycle hard and my left foot unclips, smacking the inside of my thigh on the frame, luckily I didn’t come off.

I have a nice bruise forming now.

Least you stayed on the bike, that's one good thing
I remember when I got the timing of the traffic lights wrong, and I fell over as I did not un clip, good job no one was around.

The horror, after ten odd years in clipless with never more than some close shaves rescued by last second brute yank of the foot from loose clips, a full on moment

Rode in weary this morning with a cold, rolled up the bike stand, stopped, paused to sigh, unclipped the left foot and then toppled over, nasty bang on the right elbow that really hurt, small cut to knee, the bike stayed where it was for a while, fortunately it was round the back of the building on a very quiet road and I was shielded from the busy end by a parked transit.

While riding my Brompton the sole of my left shoe became quite firmly stuck to the cage pedal.

I didn't fall off when I came to rest, but there was that horrid second or so when I was unable to free my shoe.

There can't be many cyclists who have had a clipless moment on platform pedals.

I remember someone doing that during a club ride a few years ago, unfortunately when his foot unclipped his leg smacked into the handle bars and he went down like a sack of spuds right in the middle of the pack, cue riders scattering everywhere, fortunately we were pulling away from a junction and weren't up to speed and everybody missed him..

I done that yrs ago , couldn't have been properly clipped in from the lights and the road goes up a hill very quickly after junction , anyway stood up out of saddle I was on fixed 46*16 so I was pushing hard , straight away foot unclips, I knee the bars really hard, wobble about ( God knows how I didn't fall off)manage to get off bike without crashing and had to sit at side of road almost fainting , my leg was numb , I honestly thought I'd done lasting damage obviously hit a nerve or something and had to hobble home after a while

:hello: Got a pair of cheap walking trainers that quite often do that ^_^

My fixed has clips and straps , coming to the roundabout just after work I discovered my boot lace had wrapped round the pedal and I couldn't get my foot out, unfortunately I had the other foot firmly strapped in, after holding the track stand for a few seconds I then gracefully toppled on my side.

Somewhat similar feeling to having toeclips, and the pedal bearings jam. foot tries to go around in quite the wrong angle. Fortunately I could coast until I could free myself. Continued cycling home by lifting completely off the pedal each stroke until I could rest my foot on a flat bit to push briefly. Tiring slow and bad for the knees.

ah, I used to like a sprint up the slope going south over London Bridge, i used to try and hit 30 before the crest, all a matter of a good start from the lights and then correct gear changing

one day giving it full on the right foot unclipped and said foot went into the front wheel, broke three spokes, really hurt my foot through a sturdy shoe but rather miraculously stayed on which was nice because i was in the central lane doing a high 20mph

My closest of these was stuck in traffic, everything pulls away, lorry in front pulls away, car in front of me pulls away I start accelerating up to traffic speed, car in front emergency stops for no apparent reason. Just managed to avoid the back of the car, brake to a stop and flail my foot out of the pedals, only saved kissing the tarmac by multi release SPD's.
