What evidence is there that points could be given?

Better, no need for not using simple English other than to create an air of authority. Problem is that air often smells of stale farts.

The evidence is for the police to decide, however from what the OP has said the driver was clearly driving without due care and attention.

Realistically the Poilce would not attend.

And further so, give any points... even with witnesses etc.

This is exactly why I delay my signalling when turning left into a side road. Signal early, and cars will try to dart past to make the turn before you. Leave it until later and they're not sure whether you're going straight or turning, and are less likely to try to pass. IME.

I rarely signal when turning left. I work on the premise that a signal is to give someone else information that they can use to modify their behaviour to avoid a problem. A left signal to anyone behind me is therefore pointless. The only left signal I give would only be to someone waiting to turn out, as a courtesy so I don't delay their manoeuvre by forcing them to wait.

I see left turning cyclists wobbling towards the junction with an arm out perpendicular - daft I call it.

You should have stayed there and called the police. Drivers like that NEED to be given points and fines. They won't do it again if they lose their licence.

It sounds like she was pretty scared at the thought of what could have happened - unless she was a very good actress.

Regarding signalling, I find the opposite here. I've never seen anyone on a bike signal, and on the rare occasions when I have signalled myself, the driver who's meant to be getting the benefit of it just stays where they are and stares at me in apparent disbelief! It's a bit tricky when they're blocking the narrow junction I want to turn into
