Big thanks to the maroon fiesta driver, who managed to lock up his brakes and skid to a stop behind me in a cloud of smoke. Dunno what stunt you were trying but the fact you were oblivious to my presence right in front of you on a quiet, straight road beggars belief. End of rant.

What do you do?

Brain switched off, eyes closed, on the phone oblivious to anything else, drunk or just plain asleep. Bright lights can help but aren't always effective and there are situations where there just isn't an escape route.

At least this one stopped just in time.

nowt I could do, broad daylight as well?? My heart was pumping when I heard the skid and looked around, and then saw the smoke from the front tyres. I was like FFS........ hand signals, gestures etc. Driver just stuck up his hand.

I was almost rear-ended last night. I came to a halt at the Pelican crossing outside Sainsbury's at Saltisford, Warwick. I put my foot down on the curb and the car following me stopped right beside me. If I'd been further from the curb, the idiot would have gone smack, bang straight into me.

yes. stopped on Mile End Road at lightsyesterday, two narrow lanes due to the never ending roadworks, the car behind me stopped quite rightly behind me, as i waited I felt a bump, he and his huge 4x4 was trying to edge up to the stop line and had driven into my pannier, his response to my indignant pointing out of this trangression was to make small waving gestures of the hand, as to say I was in the way
