Need a new bike expert suggestions please (£450 budget max)

So about 3 years ago I bought a Specialized hardrock mountain bike and after using it everyday nearly for 3 years its time for an upgrade. I mostly cycle 10-15 miles a day to and from work on road and canal toe path turain.
I have been looking at hybrids after being told this is the way to go for the type of cycling I'm doing. I have a budget of about £400 to £500 really and have been looking at giant roam range and another Specialized. The range is massive at the moment aswell so I'm going in a bit blind.
Can anyone give me some pointers of what to go for

Decathlon is a good starting point. or LBS and get a pre enjoyed one that somebody has part exchanged for a newer flashier one. £450 will get you a ot of bike in the 2nd hand stakes.

What about a Revolution Cross 2012 from Edinburgh Bike Coop. Comes in at £449.99 and would do for commuting/offroad/touring etc. Looks great in black with red decals.

Have a look at the Specalized Allez - I think it's a great bike for the money if slightly over budget at £500.
