You would be better off with a laptop if its just simple tasks. No real need for a desktop unless that's what you want.

Have you considered a tablet if all you do is browse the Internet and use Ebay. It liberates a whole load of space.
Kindle Fire HD is a very good cheap and really effective tablet. There are countless others.
The Asus looks promising but never tried it.

If you're wanting to browse the interwebs then just about anything will do that.
Even £35 worth of Android tablet will, so that PC will be fine. Just don't expect to go gaming on it.

As a basic PC for forums, online stuff - it'll be fine.

It looks ex-corporate under a replacement scheme. That's with the exception of the Graphics card they comment about all over.

Oh, and I'm still running all sorts of stuff on my 6yo PC's - OK, so it's Windows Vista but they do fine with 3GB RAM although they do run 2x1TB hard drives, a 1GB graphics card and 2 DVD-RW drives.

If you're trading up from a 10 year old PC and you genuinely do want it just for emails, forums, browsing and the like, that beast is way overpowered for your needs. You could save a chunk of cash and still get way more grunt than you'll ever need with something like this. It also comes with XP, which will be familiar and easy to use straightaway.

Someone will be along soon to tell you how Microsoft are going to stop 'supporting' XP soon. Maybe that matters, I'm no expert. But like I say, as a machine, this is plenty. And corporate Dells like this are bullet-proof.

Desktop PCs have fallen out of fashion due to the ubiquitous tablets and laptops. This means that the price of towers has taken a massive tumble.
If you don't mind towers (and I don't), there are some real bargains to be had.
