A need new lights for my commute to work and back, current ones are some bikehut lights the front bracket snapped the other day and the front light keeps killing the batteries only after one ride

Not for the main lights if you are out in the arse end of nowhere, but as backup (and don't laugh), get some from Poundland. I had Cateye ones on my last bike, and in terms of beam brightness, they aren't massively behind them, and whilst the build quality is obviously not as good, however, It is good enough given the outlay. They are bright LED types and multi modal. I've no idea how they can buy them in and make money TBH
My only real criticism is that the front light whilst having tight fitting mouldings, doesn't have a rubber seal where they meet so out in the rain, it will eventually get in, but that could be got around with a bit of petroleum jelly, the rear has a rubber gasket.

So cheap, you can have a couple of them spare in the draw (or even use a pair of them with one set flashing)

I've been really impressed with this MagicShine 'clone'. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CREE-XM-L...ing_LightsLanternsTorches&hash=item3a7b9d6188 It's insanely bright (also has a strobe setting), and lasts the 1.5 hours of my commute. It runs out a tad before 2 hours on full, but tbh the lower settings are adequate. I can't comment on the waterproofness of the battery as it's beneath the fairing on on the trike, but the actual light sits atop it, and has taken the heavy rains of the last few weeks. After 3 months daily use, it's proving to be a bargain buy!

As for rear lights, the I run 3 Blackburn 4.0 lights. They're awesome, and built to last. I

Over on another thread (link) there seems to be quite a liking for the Phaart lights from Planet X. Those look quite appealing to me, especially at those prices.
Phaarts were recommended to me. For £9.99 (delivery included) i got what i consider to be very bright lights, front and rear.

Just got these, an absolute bargain, you know the end of Raiders when the nazi's face melts? That's what happens if you look directly at the front lights. Phaart lights trump the others.
