Looks a nice spec, 520 steel is entry level and quite heavy but the carbon fork and decent components should help with the weight

Looks nice too despite being black

The other one I have Seen for sale Is the Specialised Dolce. a
Allegedly a women's bike, is there really any difference or are they good for men too?

Sometimes the colouring or motifs can be a little more feminine/girly/icky (depending on your POV)
Often have shorter cranks, a longer headtube, narrower handlebars

Geometry is here of the 2011 model, you don't say what year it is

http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bikes/archive/2011/dolce/dolceelitec2apex#geometry

You'll likely want to change the saddle, but Specialized have good ones, so should be easy to get a couple of quid for it

Thanks yes it was not original owner, it is Sport Model. so not sure but looks like colour scheme of 2011 Sport model - red and white quite good
It's about 15 miles from here. A little bit into Ebay, but as prices for the better bikes seem to be keeping up there this Dolce is a good price

What size it is? Due to the geometry, you may find it smaller than a men's. Stem will likely be shorter too, so you may need to tweak a bit

51 cm which is pretty much what I need. Don't think I mind a short stem can change if I need.
Am bidding on another bike in Ebay which finishes tomorrow and a Secteur finishes Sunday.
I will check out the geoemetry though I have difficulty reading much into the figures

Compare to the men's bikes you are looking at, see how the figures compare. Easy to find on the Specialized site through Google

51cm is fairly small (that said I am quite tall  )

My hybrid is 20" and I think the size is ok
AS the bike is on Gumtree I can check it out before committing

I am a little shorter than I used to be - partly think my spine is more curvy

Well failed to win a Felt Z100
There are a few Specialized Allez triples around
Would I find that geometry too agressive - or could I improve by using eg different stem?

Go ride one, no one can really tell you if it's too aggressive for you  Evans sell Specialized and offer obligation free testrides
