I think the fence in the foreground version, cropped like this, works best for me.

I need to finalise the yearly calendar I do for family and friends and have a choice to make with the September entry. I am down to 2 photos of the same view, but from very slightly different angles and one zoomed in, the other zoomed out. Both have good and bad points and I could really do with some assistance. I suspect my preference is not what will work best on the calendar (black background).
I prefer one version of a view and my OH prefers the other... He is away from home again so we can't discuss it, so I thought I might put it to a general vote... Any thoughts please? They are both of Loch Eriboll with Ben Hope (hopefully) in the background. The best option for telling them apart is probably to say with fence or without fence...

PS - don't worry about a domestic :boxing: - he's away from home yet again so I can hold his bikes to ransom!

The first picture is the best.

Thanks everyone. Much to my disappointment (my OH is so going to love this one!) and probably @Marmion's as well, I suspect we will go with the first one, which was the original one we selected (though not my first choice for September - that was veto'ed by my OH for not being colourful enough (a B&W photo shot in full colour!)). My personal choice was with the fence, but I can see it both ways. The calendar get finalised tomorrow.

(my origianal choice was this... IMG_0800v3.JPG but I do have it as a large canvass in the sitting room with a slightly different cropping so my choice is biased!)

The fence draws your attention to the foreground in the picture, leaving you searching for something that isn't there.
If it led your eyes into the picture, then I'd have said the one with the fence. However it doesn't so my vote is for without fence.
