Going into my LBS tomorrow to get mudguards on. They are a must!

Bit worried as he only has Crud Catcher MK 2s and then hybrid ones - not sure these will fit my bike.

My advice is get full length guards, not the short or medium length type that protect you, but not the bike. Probably the ones you are considering are OK in that respect, but I just wanted to point this out.

I got a waterproof coat from sports direct £15 last year, well worth the money, also like a few others have said, you need to make sure you get waterproof shoe/boots or use overshoes.
One thing I did learn, not to buy waterproof trousers with slots in to access inner pockets, (you find these on the cheap ones) they are fine if your standing up, but riding a bike, no, the water just gets in.
so I use, sports direct waterproof coat, altura waterproof trousers and waterproof boots from decathlon.

Had one of those Sports Direct 'boil in the bag' waterproof jackets - never again!

The commute this morning was beautiful. Cold, but no wind or rain. Down to the Kelpies, over to Alloa, 22 miles in total but an enjoyable 22 miles!

The return journey after work will no doubt be a nightmare.

In fact it still very warm. The roses are still flowering in my garden and there are no bugs to eat them.

Merion is your friend;a nice base layer and socks will help keep you toasty.Overshoes(or socks if it's dry) and a good waterproof will help keep you dry.

Oh and keep an eye on a TK Maxx if you have one near as they sometimes have cycling kit in and also some good outdoor kit as well like Patagonia,it is hit and miss though.

And without mudguards your bike becomes filthy in no time.

Looking at mine it got filthy even with mudguards.

Me too . This is a coat that I bought from either Lidl or Aldi just before an amazing offer popped up somewhere selling a £150 jacket for £30 so I've hardly used it. PM me your address and I'll get it in the post to you.

Those toe clips are lethal! Pair came with bike, which I still have. They are rubbish though!

When is Aldi next selling cycling gear?

I've been on clips and strapsd for about 25 years, I find them very good, prefer them to clipless.
