......perpetuated by a rancidly sectarian education system.

+1....If you mean the refusal of some of the Roman Catholic community to use state funded non-denominational schools to educate their children(standard schools) and insist the state funds separate RC schools.

There are no state funded "protestant" schools in Scotland.

The comparison with Martin O'Neill is unfair.
Not so - the insinuation was(by Manga) Lennon was attacked because he was a "Catholic Ulsterman" of which there are many in Scotland(Martin O'Neill being a suitable "high profile" example).

The very same can be said for Celtic also.
Both clubs are as bad as each other in regards to that.

+1.

Just to add a bit of balance to the discussion - a less nationally publicised incident(March 2010).

Lennon was attacked because he made an innocent remark about wanting to play for a united Ireland team one day. That's a personal view, and one that he's entitled to. He's been harrassed and physically attacked because racist protestant fans wanted to drive him out of the Northern Ireland team (in which they succeeded) and out of Scottish football (where, who knows, they may succeed again). Martin O'Neill hasn't suffered the same abuse because he didn't say the same thing about wanting to play for a united Ireland team.

I'm hoping that UEFA wakes up and gives Scottish football a year to get its house in order. If they don't - soyanara!

All parents are free to choose a local school to send their children to. This could be a non-denominational school or a Roman Catholic school. Parents may also use placing requests to attend schools other than their local school.

It is too easy to try to blame denominational schools for sectarianism but there are lots of church schools in England without these problems. Schools do not teach/preach sectarianism.

If mixing at school was the complete answer we would have no sexism or racism but these still exist (ask Mr Diouf)

Lennon is in need of some training to improve his public image on the media, but Rangers and Celtic are a plague on the nation, an embarrassment to Scotland.

I agree.

Remember, it was Rangers 'fans' who ripped the centre of Manchester apart on the night of the UEFA final and brought massive shame on Scotland.

Strangely, David Murray and Walter Smith, who were continously wingeing in the run up to the final about the SFA/SPL doing nothing to help them such as re-arranging league games, were very quiet about what happened after the game.

Add to that the cost of building and maintaining all these new schools that would have to be built if the Catholic ones shut (which are built and maintained by the local catholic community with no public funds).

Ok as promised some more FACTS for you as to why it's not an Old Firm problem, make up your own mind on which club is the worst,

Which gets i's catering staff to remove green straws from the boxes they are sent in.
one club has banned eggs benedict from it's menu.
one club has it's menu priced at £16.90.
one club had to remove a Pepperami promotion from it's ground because it has green wrapping.
one club get's McGhee's bakers to remove green topping from empire biscuits.
one club has been fined 5 times for it's fans behaviour by Uefa.
one club has been told to play it's next 2 european behind closed doors.,
Which clubs fans have rioted in the following cities, Manchester,Barcelona,Pamplona,Bucharest,Villareal,Rotterdam,Dublin,Stuggart.
Which club's kitman refuses to wash and layout the kit of Catholic players, they have to get someone else to do it.
Which club warns it's players not to bless themselves as they enter the field or score a goal.
Which club's director had to resign as he was caught on camera singing sectarian songs.
Which club hires out one of it's function suites to a known loyalist flute band.
Which club let it's captain (Andy Goram) attend the funeral of a known and convicted loyalist terrorist.
Which club's manager stated "There's an air of protestant supremacy about the place" to Graham Spiers @ The Times
Which club has a picture of King Billy in it's board room.
Which club's fans urinated on and destroyed holy statue's in Barcelona causing the Mayor to call them "The worst in the world"
Which club tells it's fans not to sing sectarian songs as it will get them into trouble, not because it's wrong.
Which club has never condemned sectarian singing by it's fans.

I have loads more if anyone else thinks it's an old firm problem, i just don't have the time to write it all, if you wish i could start on the sectarian murders of Celtic fans,3 in the last 2 years, the attacks on people wearing green (including a 12 year old disabled girl) near their ground on match days, any more FACTS required i'll be back later to give them (oh and don't get me started on blame Catholic schools for it)

Sure bring up the Old Firm Tag to tie one to another .

I'm a Celtic Fan I live in the West Coast of Scotland.

What have Catholics schools got to do with Football?
Can someone explain please?

Jock Stein put Celtic's dominance over Rangers while he was in charge partly down to the fact that Celtic were able to employ the best players irrespective of their religion whereas Rangers would not have any Catholics at the club.

Former Celtic player Frank McGarvey tells how he once had to run out of a house in Glasgow where he was working as a joiner (his trade after retirement from football) when the husband got home and found who was working in his home.

Whatever faint hope the old firm may have been harbouring about migrating to the lucrative Premier League have now been well and truly scuppered, no way do the English clubs want to put up with that. Ironically it will be Rangers who suffer the most as they are in serious debt and playing in a low income Micky Mouse league.

Actually Beasley’s car was fire bombed because he was involved with a lady who had ties to an underground figure in the city, and that it was a professional job done by local gangsters not by some ned's for a joke on twitter.

That makes it alright then - one of several stories "out there" trying to justify the attack that happened after the tweet.

NOBODY is trying to justify Lennon being attacked - just saying it's not just Lennon in Scottish football!!!

Ally Maxwell was attacked, Gordon Strachan(whilst a player), Dida the Milan keeper Hugh Dallas the referee etc, etc, etc.

Some people only read into it what they want to read into it.
