Nemesis chickened out

I thought I'd found my nemesis recently.

Small stature, but looks serious and rides a Knesis Race Light. So bike is no smarter than my Specialized Allez, other than better chainset. Rides out of the saddle away from the lights with crushing acceleration and climbs hills with ease.

Last time I met him, I indulged in some SCR, and got home shattered, gasping for breath and begging for mercy. At the end I watched him turn left as I went right, me heading home along the flat, and him heading up the notorious hill to Kings Heath. Not only faster, but still with legs to climb hills. Oh well, there is always someone faster than you!

Anyway, haven't seen him in ages, but met up again in Digbeth yesterday. I wasn't looking for a lung-busting fitness-improving ride home, but the sight of the light blue heart-crushing machine and its merciless engine sitting on top pricked my ego and my self-improvement sides at the same time.

Only to see them take a different route in Balsall Heath, leaving me nothing to chase for the rest of the trip home. Did my Nemesis chicken out?

You're just lucky to have other cyclists near you to race! :jealous:

There's no one on the way in
But, I have a nemesis on the way home
He works at the same place as me. Generally we leave a few minutes apart and he gets out first. I don't see him. But recently I've managed to pip him to the door. He's caught me up and then it's been 'on'
Never managed to beat him, but he's not lost me either.
Probably a bit one sided as he's got a 5 miler compared to my 15 and he used to run representing England and has zero excess fat on him.....

My nemisis is a 60+ year old on a 30 year old bike covered in reflectors.
He's completely covered in reflectors?

When I was working lates there was a young guy on a full suspension MTB who I would see occasionally and he would be rolling along at about 16-18 mph, if I went past him he would pass me a few seconds later doing about 25mph. :eek:If I could get on his wheel I could pass him on the next hill, but when we got back on level ground he would just disappear over the horizon very quickly.
