If your that concerned about the baby why didnt you call the police straight away? Did you check the baby was breathing? Did you knock on some doors to ask if anyone is the parent or gardian? Or did you just look and film then walk away doing nothing to really check if the baby was ok? Do you know the outcome of this ? Filming and posting the number plate without knowing what the story is, and then doing absolutely nothing to see if the baby is safe seems a bit strange. Was filming this and doing the check on the vehicles airbags then posting this later on supposed to help the child in some way?

A disturbing addition to my original post, it can be seen the baby is asleep in the front passenger seat in a rear facing car seat.
I have found information that the model of VW Golf used has passenger side air bags fitted as standard.
Rear facing baby car seats should never be put in the front passenger seat if an passenger air-bag is present due to the serious risk of death if the air-bag goes off for whatever reason.

Air bags can be turned off.

Agree - coppers should have been phoned.

Filming a baby then posting about it seems weird.

I don't know if anyone noticed that there is a removals van there as well so it could well be related, i.e. someone is moving in and having a look before bringing the kid in

The van belongs to the shop I assume the driver was visiting, it is a house clearance van, it is normally parked there.

I would be more concerned about some dodgy character video recording the baby. It does seem a little creepy to me.
Exactly the point, the driver has no idea what weirdo's are hanging around to leave a baby all alone out of sight of anyone.

This is a very strange situation I had never come across before and as such I had absolutely no idea what to do about it. I didn't even know if leaving a baby like that was illegal. While thinking about what for ten minutes or so I went and checked but the car had gone, I later reported it to the Police via their non-emergency number. The officer I spoke with indicated they would probably visit the driver and tell not not to do it again.
Not immediately doing something about the situation I found is something I regret, if it ever happened again, hopefully it never does, I will call the Police straight away without hesitation.

You may not agree with my videoing my commute and posting anything I feel worthy on the internet but it is not illegal to film in a public place or illegal to post videos recorded in public on the internet, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

So posting information about a vehicle where someone may find a baby is fine? I think it is morally questionable given the current society we live in, at the end of the day you are posting your videos looking for some kudos, this won't do it, if you had seen it and reported it to the police and then posted about that here without posting the specific details then that would be fine but I think your actual post and putting the material on you tube leaves a hell of a lot to be desired. You would do best to edit your post and take down the video.

This is worse than the guy who used to ride up the middle of single lane roads then complain about cars getting in his way and thinking people would applaud him for it, but I guess it takes all sorts.

Interesting post but complete rubbish, since I already wrote the vehicle had gone ten minutes later and it was about an hour after the event before I mentioned it on hear which had no specific information you mention and the video was posted over six hours after that. The video gave context to my description and showed the stupidity of the driver, rather people having to believe a complete strangers opinion of what occurred.

The original thread was a question about what to do in a very strange situation I found myself in, are we not allowed to ask questions on this forum?
There was no attempt to gain kudos as you state, it matters not a jot how many people watch my videos.

If you want to continue on your anti-camera rant go ahead, it's quite funny and entertaining in a strange weird way.

The last thing I am going to do is edited my posts and take down the video because some unknown person on an internet forum doesn't like it.

No specific info? So you have not published the reg number and vehicle type and colour.

You wrote and I quote directly:-

Since the information you are so concerned about did not appear on here until about nine hours after the event, how does that help someone find a baby?

Yep, I don't think Catrike has thought this through.

All we know is that the owner of the car with that number plate has a baby.

Shocker!

Save the babies... As I believe Marvin Gaye once implored us.
