Really depends on how many syllables in the surname. 1 syllable forenames don't sound good with 1 syllable surnames. Equally 3+ syllable forenames sound too much with a long surname.
So if you've got a short surname, I'd go with "Chardonnay". Long surname, it's got to be "Brian"
We had twin and I always liked the name Hannah. It was a non starter as with my surname it would have sounded like a stammer. We went with Hayley. The name had to begin with an H so she could have the initials HRH. With her brother called Charles, we did the whole royal thing!
