FWIW, keep an eye out for more reasonable alternatives - I bought a very similar Eastpak Velow from TKMaxx recently for £20 - here in green: http://www.eastpak.com/uk-en/kruizer-m-velow-green.html - one of about half a dozen messenger bags. No Crumpler or Timbuk2, though.

returning to topic Timbuk2 have got some LightBrite commuter messenger bags on sale on their site at the moment. Just the job for these dark commutes.

I must confess my owm pre-loved Crumpler Seedy2 does knock my cap off or catch on my helmet when taking it off and Timbuk2's napoleon packet and memory clam doo-dah are neat ideas.
