I've been thinking about this configuration (gears and brakes on bar ends - or on the "horns" of a bull bar) and been wanting to try it out but without spending any money.

My "box of bits" finally yielded enough to come up with this:

Mechanically it all works fine, and I think the hand position will be good when I've found a shorter stem, but that cut-down Cinelli Tempo bar is a 26.4 clamp size, and finding quill stems for that is not easy.

That's pretty much what my boss has, but on bar ends, and a hub gear thumb shifter not bar end shifters. I think he had to do some mackling to get the tube diameter right.
