Thought I had posted in this, go look at cubes range this year, lots in that price range including carbon and even disc brakes.

The propel mentioned above sounds like a good plan . If you're ok with redoing your gears you could swap the bars out for a TT setup and back to drop bars for the rest of your riding .
@vickster seems to be able to find the TT'd propel picture that i can never find .
Edit ; until now ...

How often would you want to be doing that though? Much hassle involved. Bb

I wouldnt want to be doing it at all , thats why i have a dedicated TT bike but its not that much hassle if everything is set up to go . Just change the bars over and re thread four cables , index the gears and you're off .

Thanks for all your help, I am going to visit the Giant LBS tomorrow. They have the Defy, TCR and Propel all in and I will be able to test all 3 back to back.

Think it may be an expensive day tomorrow

Another vote for the Propel if you're in any way serious about TT's. Just put some clip on trip-bars on the front when you're TTing.

Now the proud owner of a TCR advanced 2. Should also be able to pick it up this weekend. It was one if those bikes that as soon as I slung my over it felt right

The propel was a missile as soon as you put pressure on the pedal it was off perfect as a TT bike and in fact I discussed with the shop if they would be able to put but Tt bars on it and they said that should be easy enough. It would have been a bit too light, aggressive and twitchy for me to live with day in day out

The defy was good but focused too much on being comfy and endurance biased for me

If you liked the CAAD 8 then I would suggest you try a Supersix Evo. Amazing bikes. They go for around £1500 with 105 I believe. Or you try it in a shop and pick up one online...
Good choices but inreckonnif you try in a shop then buy from the shop too. Supersix Evo is pretty bad ass.
