No, what you're stating is very accurate but as you say, there are subtle setup differences and trimming requirements. It's not quite set up just as a mech system is. Principle is the same but there is a bit more finesse required. Loads of good guides on YouTube too.

Thanks all glad I asked. Il leave it be till I can get to a shop. I have just managed to get the shimano software on an old laptop so il check all the settings properly tomorrow and have another go at alignment 👍🏻

As always delivery was any time up until 6, sat in all day and it arrived at 5 so have only briefly put together and had a quick test ride feels great so far
