Thanks very much for your reply Its good to here from a owner, thing with omlt riding a short while and only riding my tricross i haven't riden any thing to compare i havent rode any thing carbon either when people discribe different caracteristics in reviews or in person of bikes or wheels etc i cant say i reaĺly understand what is ment whenthey talk about angles, wheelbase or stiffness sometimes wander if i should go down the specialized, trek, giant route as im not sure if i have had the experience in riding to know about different bikes but id really like to be a life long bike and god those enigmas really look beautiful. .....
I also have a Specialized Roubaix, which is a more sportive bike compared to their Tarmac range which is more for racing. I love the Roubaix and it is just as comfortable as the Enigma Etape. I tend to ride the Roubaix in the summer and the Ti bike for touring/winter. They both have the same Ultegra 6800 components and I swap the wheels between the two of them. If I had to keep one of them it would be the Ti because I can use it for touring.

Thanks alot for your replies and ian thank you very much for the offer of a ride of yours
Im looking at budget and wandering if i could build up a bike i have to be honest even a low level components is top end budget as ive said id like it to be my life bike to ride in ten/twenty years as my riding changes as i get older so the guards and rack mounts are look a very sensible option but the down side is i wouldnt get the opportunity to test ride so ive got a list in my head bear with me as ive not got any experience when it comes to parts
Frame £1200
Wheelset zondas wiggle £360
105 groupset £314
Charge spoon £40
Any ideas of costing on the rest
That you there about clear me out fir a bit

Stem, headset, seat post, bars, tape, tyres, tubes, bottom bracket potentially, cables, mudguards, rack...add three to four hundred at least, all these bits add up especially if you want light and higher end

Does the frame include forks? if so, I reckon you'll end up at 2.5k+

Plus build cost if not doing it yourself

@colin jones
Get the best frame you can afford and build from there. Starting off with 105 is a good call, but if you are on a tight budget then don't discount Tiagra groupsets.
Have a look at some handmade wheels (from DCR), The ones in the pic above on my bike cost less then £300. That's not bad considering they are made to my specs rather then something off the shelf.

You will also need to look at
Forks
Stem
Seatpost
Seatpost collar
Pedals
bar Tape
Tubes and tyres

It all adds up.. it may be a far better option to go for the full build bike.

I reckon you're right mate i don't really know much about components i would really like 105 as i looks so much cleaner around the handle bars and i must admit i forgot all about forks and headset douh!

What Ian says - he sings from the same hymn sheet as me. Hand built wheels are a 'bit different' these days - they used to be the norm. What you get is a great set of wheels that are light and fixable (actually they don't need fixing). I have a couple of handbuilt road bikes from the 90's, one was custom made for me. It's not a cheap option, but if you want something a bit different !!!!

I have to agree with ian & vickster, a full 10 speed Tigra build will do you fine, you can always do a full groupset swap when you have had full use of the Tiagra.

Ride it a couple years, strip the Tiagra off & flog it on, then re-fit with a full 105/Ultegra group, whatever suits really.
Hope you end up with a great bike anyway.

I don't actually think there's a lot in it, 105 is pretty cheap nowadays...I wouldnt skimp no more than £100 and get tiagra if 105 is what you want - on a 2.5k bike it's peanuts

@velovoice got herself a new Ti bike this year which I think is an Enigma but I could be wrong there.

Look on the fat birds website for Ti bikes, I got my sabbath aspire with full 105 for £1800 notes

Yes, I have a custom Etape and love it. Whole heartedly recommend the brand, the bike and the company.

I would leave out the LBS middle man and go direct.... unless you are absolutely positive one of the stock sizes fits you perfectly. If there's even a hint or a doubt that you might need a custom frame -- don't do this via the shop, go straight to Enigma for a full fitting. Fitting issues can get lost in translation. Just saying.

If a stock frame size fits and you already know and trust your LBS who also an Enigma dealer (lots of IFs there! get it right!) -- then order through the LBS as you'll want either their help or their advice or both in building up your bike, and you'll want that relationship to be local and face to face. Another option if you don't want the worry of deciding on all your components, your LBS/dealer can arrange one of Enigma's standard build options and then you've got a fabulous complete bike with minimal hassle or stress.

I have an Enigma Echo in a standard size (57cm) bought from my LBS. Ive done over 4400 miles in all weathers on it without a single problem. It is a dream to ride, the frame soaks up all the road buzz and it flies along the road. All day long distance rides are comfortable and a pleasure to ride. Definitely a brand worth looking at and I would recommend them.
