Hi Tommyaweek, and welcome to this forum, grumpyoldmen notwithstanding.

Your best option, as always, is to go to your Local Bike Shop. There you will benefit from the experience of a knowledgeable bike person, who will help fit you to a bike that suits your needs. You will also benefit from the aftercare that only skilled mechanics can offer.

It might be the case that you can get a cheap deal from national chain stores, but in the long run you'll pay a different sort of price.

Cheers

20" has a point.

It took me a couple of readings to actually figure out what was required as an answer.

Fair enough if you slip up sometimes and miss the odd comma/fullstop and/or spell something incorrectly as we all do this due to tryng to type and submit quickly... but missing out everything is just laziness or a sign of the standards of teaching being in decline at some point.

Now, as for the question... errrm, it's really up to you. I'd go for the Trek, but had no probs with my initial Subway 1 purchase from Halfrauds. I'd steer clear of disk brakes myself, more to go wrong IMHO.

I (almost) always click on the "preview Post" button, to check out what I've actually typed, as distinct from what I thought I had typed, before I click the "Submit Reply" button.

the trouble people have found with the subway is the disk brakes are kind of unique to it and as such the availability of the pads is a bit scarce some places

i'd go with the trek
