New bike needed £2000 to spend

Hi I had a Trek 3.1 2012 but it got wrecked .I was looking at the giant defy advanced the bike of the year but it's completely sold out , so I'm now considering the giant defy composite 1 . I only do club runs and am not into racing so want comfort bike but one that won't leave me struggling at the back of the group ! Any thoughts on the composite ? I like the red white colour and he spec looks good too. Thanks .

Best advice is to go ride a few of the options which appeal

Any decent £1200 carbon bike and £800 wheels/tyres.

If I was spending that sort of money I'd want to spec the bike myself, buying one of the shelf it would come with bits that I'd want to change at some point, but you might have to wait a bit for it to be built. If you're struggling at the back of the group it's because the groups too fast nothing to do with the bike (unless you're on a chopper)!

Look at the CUBE bikes, great frames and they kit them out well.

Whatever you buy the wheels will probably be junk, so make sure you've got the funds for some better than stock wheels.

Thanks for all the help much appreciated. Think I will go ahead with the giant. One last question if I wanted to upgrade the wheels how much or what wheels would you recommend that would be better than the giant wheels?

£2k is entry level when you consider what you can spend on a bike

I've just had the same dilemma (however a very nice one to have) and have decided upon the Focus Cayo Evo 4. I was also looking at the Defy Composite 1 which is a nice bike but the styling lacks a little for me and we've got to love the bike right? Unfortunately I was a little restricted in that I had to find a physical shop for my insurance company to send a cheque to so stuck with those nearby. My decision came down to the Cube Agree GTC SL/SLT or the Focus Cayo and the Cayo won on a better fit. If the money was in my bank and I could spend it wherever I like (which I was hoping for) then I would've gone for the Canyon as not seen any other bike spec that good for that price with the closest being the Ridley Excalibur from Pearsons Cycles. Only thing with the Canyon is that it's purely online so you'd have to go by their advice for your size.

Good luck choosing, it's definitely not easy.

i think its ridiculous to spend that much but if you got it, flaunt it eh!

stick with the stock wheels. theyre not glamorous but theyre very well made and as good as if not better than any rival.
