Just got me a new bike for getting to and from work. Hopefully I can find someone local to join me for some fun rides too .

I am still worried my bike Is not locked up well enough. The car park it is in is relatively secure and more bikes go along side about 15-30mins after I get there. Should I get a chain lock for it instead of the mini D-lock ??

Looks relatively well secured but at the end of the day if someone is determined they'll have anything. The main thing is to be less of a target. How many other bikes are normally in those racks with unsecured rear wheels etc... You can spend all day worrying about these things but it doesn't help. Just secure as well as is feasible and then enjoy the ride!

Put that second shackle through the frame behind the steerer and then through the stand. Use the cable to secure the wheels running from one lock to the other.

That's what I thought.

It looks like the second D lock is not attached to anything other than the bike, although I suppose it must be.

Edit: Ah, it's around the wheel, still better as drago suggests.

Keep the D-Locks. But try fit as much of the frame and stand into the locks as possible. That help stops anyone with a bottle jack trying to prise them open.

Thank you all , I couldnt get the mini lock to get the frame wheel and railing , So figured the wheel and frame may be ok. I will try as Drago said and just use the cable for the wheel.

Their are a fair few more bikes to be parked there 8-12 maybe. Company decided we can't park them indoors anymore.

Make sure it's insured and the locks comply with the T&Cs of the policy

There are D Locks and D Locks, a determined tooled up thief with time will get through anything but the top end ones make it rather harder

Was the first thing I did when I got it home. The only thing the insurer said I was obliged to do was to lock it with a D or shackle lock (I had to phone them back to see if I was obliged to do anything). I'm sure I will get a letter through soon enough and read through all the small print for it.

20 lbs bike with 15 lbs of locks to go with it, wow.
I am fortunate that where I am currently living bicycle theft is not a big issue. At work I could leave my bike unlocked in the bike rack and no one would touch it. Currently I keep it in an unlocked closet away from the weather.
Looks like a nice bike I would hate to lose it., good luck.

As vickster says, get some insurance. If the worst comes to the worst, it won't be the end of the world. You can usually get a very good deal by sticking your bike on a house contents policy. Also, the T&Cs tend to be a lot let onerous than a bike-specific policy.

Get a viynal sticker saying tracker fitted made up stick it to the frame could be a handy to make them think twice but as previously said if they want it bad enough they will have it

I leave the bulk of the locks at work and the mini on the frame. I will look into the vinyl sticker now.

Once upon a time most of the UK was also like this hennbell.

Would some geeky type stickers do the job to personalise it ? Im sure I have some about somewhere.

If you use the larger D lock through the rear triangle (either chain stays or seat stays) you should be able to also use the mini-lock through the frame, front wheel and bike rack, like you can see with my Peugeot below. Admittedly my second D lock is a bit larger than yours, but when locked properly there's a fair amount of extra space. Twice the D locks makes it take twice as long to cut your bike off, and you won't have to carry that extra cable.

That does look better with the 2 D-locks , I may just take my Series 2 kryptonite with me for the front side and keep the mini home. I couldnt get the mini to get the rail in too
