Okay the bike is second hand but it is to replace my old juddery racer that I use for commuting. I will be fitting the wheels from my racer to the new bike (both are rim brakes and 7 speed) so hopefully it will make the bike a bit faster. I will also be a lot more comfortable on this new bike.

I am having a look at it tomorrow (see condition and if it fits). Its a Kona Smoke with suspension forks (not original I suspect).

I will have a good look at quality of brakes/wear left on cassette and chainrings. I dont know if the seat has been adjusted for people with a very oddly shaped bum or if it is broken.

Are the wheels on the old road bike and this new bike the same size?

A quick google comes up with this as a 29er (so it would fit 700c wheels). I will have a look though. I can always fit slicks onto 26 size wheels though.

The main problem will be the hubs.

MTB drop-outs are spaced differently to road bike drop-outs, so there's a good chance your wheels won't fit.

I'm assuming that the owner is selling because he can no longer feel his penis.
I nearly fell off my chair at that one! LOL

Well I bought the bike. It had different suspension and a different seat than pictured but both were better.
ll the gears work (need indexing though), brakes work (rear needs tightening), bars need adjusting, needs new tires and needs a clean. But overall the bike is sound.
It has no wobbly bits, no rust on the frame, a few chips and scrapes on the frame (but you cant complain at £50!). The wheels are true and appear to have new spokes.

As I have said, the only real thing it needs is a new set of tires and new grips (I dont like the current ones). Everything else I can swap from my old bike.

Already the parents are complaining though as I now have 4 bikes in the garage.

Just completed the changeover. Sorted the wheels, brakes, pannier rack, steering, pedals. Gave the chain a complete wash and relube. Gave the frame a quick polish and everything looks good. Had a quick ride up the road and back and all feels fine. Sorted out the gears too.

Found that the forks have a lot of scratched and chips on them but I have some enamel paint left over from a touch up project so I can easily fix the main problems. I am going to have to see if the bike was registered nicked though (with it being Rhyl where I purchased it from).
