As promised, photos of said bike. First three are at work with the panniers on. Last one is just now at home without the panniers.

It does look good, it seems to have cleaned up well!
It was amazing how the bike was just dirty. It was all over the crankset and frame. Goes to show that a good scrub can make anything look good.

The far out pictures dont show the extent of the scratches though. I have also damaged the chain when I was getting the old pedals off (I was doing it totally wrong and put an immense amount of pressure though the chain causing the links to stretch and the spacers to come loose), I still have the chain from my old bike though.

It's probably better just to replace the chain, they're dirt cheap anyway.
