Hi
I need a very lightweight road bike/hybrid.
I have m.s. and a bike maker is going to turn it into a trike and put a motor on.
But first I have to get a lightweight bike.circa 9/10 kg...but which one?
Grateful for your help.
I am obviously a novice and know nothing of bikes...do I rely on Evans?
Thx

What budget are you looking at for the bike?

The bike will be converted to a trike, so that limits where I can ride........roads/ flat forest trails, wide canal paths etc......shama but a reality.....thx

Have a look at the Boardman cx (cyclocross with drop bars) and the hybrids (flat bars) in Halfords. Either should be a reasonable basis for conversion I would think.

Not sure what Evans would have in that price range.

Good luck!

I know nothing about trike conversion, but I wonder if low step through is important, since that will rule out most road bikes. Also most 9/10kg bikes are designed for narrow tyres, have limited tyre clearance, which will limit your choice of tyre width and therefore comfort on rougher terrains.

These people seems to be experienced, giving them a call might give you more ideas regarding priorities and may help to inform choice?

:welcome: and Good luck!!
