New brakes, need guidance please.

New to the site and need some help.

I stopped riding my bike due to working late and not having the time I left my bike for ages. My brake fluid conjealed in the pipes and I cannot flush out. I'd like to get a certain type of brake/gear combo:

SHIMANO ST-M600 HONE DUAL CONTROL HYDRAULIC BRAKE/SHIFTERS 9/27 SPEED

If that's any help I have a GT Avalanche and was wondering if I can just purchase the leavers and pipes? Or do I need to buy a new gear set up to suit the new leavers/brakes?

You won't need to but a new gear set at all as long as the brake levers are independent from the shifters (I'm sure there aren't any hydro ones that are...)

I'd take it to a local bike shop to see if they can flush it through first though.
