both the roads in both those vids look unpleasant, I'm not sure I'd do secondary in either although the first vid is a single lane, not nice

does that white car in that second vid actually clip his bars?

No, the problem he has is the drunk drivers in new Zealand, if he takes a central position in his lane then he will just get run over.

Hi,

I wanted a camera for commute bought am 808 #11 as a result of this review from this seller on ebay for about £25.

Really impressed with it, would prefer a proper mount as it can vibrate a little with the velco supplied.

Here's a clip from close pass on first trip today.

I guess I should have been further right there to block the car from passing?Any comments or tips?

That is remarkable quality for such a small and cheap cam! May I ask how exactly you have it mounted?

using the supplied Velcro. I originally mounted it on the handlebars but the curve allowed the camera to pivot around the bar so i moved to the top of the bell which is flat.

Indeed, after watching some of the close passes he has, i find it very hard to complain about the ones i get!

Thats a good point. Maybe Lozcs has fallen into the trap that we all (us camera weilding types) fall into, of posting stuff that isnt really postworthy.

I often look at my channel and think..."why".

I must get around to deleting some

LOL, maybe, although to be fair, it was mainly meant as a demo of new camera, just happened to use the bit where close pass was to ask advice.

Looking at the video review you linked to, and looking at my helmet, it doesn't look like there's a good way to attach it there ... how firmly attached does it feel on the velcro?

I've emailed the techmoan chap and curious if he knows of any sports orientated cameras poking about that may just be using the same tech as that '#11' cam.

The velcro not ideal, it vibrates a little over the bumps with velcro on the bars - probably be OK on a helmet though

I might try and get one of these bar mounts, I've asked techmoan if he can supply but had no response yet.

Had a response from techmoan on ebay - he cannot source.

Also had an email from that US supplier linked above, he says he just shipped one to Germany that cost $29.95 + $24.95 for the holder - he also suggested if a group buy could reduce shipping costs. Anyone interested?

Possibly - I'm more interested in helmet mounting, though. Thinking velcroing it on then a nylon strap around it, through the helmet might work, and make it a little waterproof.

Be good however if the bar mount is flexible and would allow mounting on the stem.

I am interested.

I'm sure you'll be fine with velcro on the helmet, not sure about how waterproof you'll get it though....

Also looks like the mount can only be used on a horizontal bar so not sure you could attach to stem.

You asked for tips:

On the approach look over your shoulder to see if there is any traffic then move across.

If there is traffic coming that you think you may come into conflict with then use your judgement and either give a signal and move out or touch the brakes let the motor vehicle go in front then move out, still with a signal depending on if there is any traffic behind.

Put your hand up in thanks to any car behind you as you move back over and they overtake.

+1  all of these - it's pretty much exactly how i go through pinch points and apart from one mentalizer who was going past me no matter what, it's all been gravy

I think it would be better to say that we post things that are not really post worthy for other people. For example, when you're not used to close passes your perception of closeness is different to someone who is close passed all the time. Plus the camera always seems to make incidents look milder, I have often watched an incident I thought was bad at the time only to see the video showing it as a nothing incident.
