Hi all 2 questions
I bought some carbon forks recently off ebay and intend to fit them with my Carrera crossfire 2 frame
firstly the headtube on the frame flares out at both the top and bottom unlike on my MTB will this be an issue
secondly how snug a fit should the steerer tube be in the head tube??

The dimensions that matter will be where the headset bearings sit. The flare of the headtube might look odd if it's not matched at the top of the forks, but shouldn't cause any issues.

The steerer isn't meant to be a snug fit. The only contact should be with the headset bearings and not the headtube. Most modern frames are designed to take 1 1/8" forks although some still use 1" standard commonly found on older bikes. There are a few other less common sizes too.
