Been without a cat for almost four months now, so felt it was time to fill the puss-shaped hole in our lives.

Picked up this little cutie from a fosterer for an animal rescue charity this morning:

Almost three year old female, currently named Chips (probably will keep that moniker but considering other options), still a little shy and getting used to a new house, but settling in nicely.

Nice. Always good to see a cat go to a good home.

What a pretty "jellicle" cat!

Gentle chin tickles to Chips from Auntie Reynard xxx Bless her, you can see the "worried cat" in her expression and body language. She'll settle fine, I'm sure. Chicken, catnip and feather ticklers go a log way to helping.

Yeah, today has obviously been quite a stressful day for her, but we've let her have her own space and time to explore, then when she's come to seek us out, we've provided plenty of head scritches (that seems to be her favourite place to be rubbed), some tasty food and a catnip toy tied to a piece of string, all of which have been well received.

A Minging Manc...
Had 3 cats until very recently. Went from 1 for years to none for several years before we got 3 in a short space of time for various reasons. The one we just lost was a shock and unexpected/unexplained but all rescue cats so kudos for taking one in :okay:
Came across this poor thing yesterday while walking in Chee Dale. Crazy American girl was walking it through the inevitable crowds on a lead. It was terrified.

Stupid girl had full chintz dress on (Chee Dale is quite full on hike territory) and probably thought she was 'so cool'? I almost wanted to rescue the poor thing from her. She most likely paid a fortune to have a fashion cat when there are lots of fantastic cats just languishing in the rehome centres?

As a volunteer at a cat sanctuary, I've seen the results of such 'choices' and it makes me mad and sad in equal measure that some humans can be so uncaring and indifferent to another sentient being. :cursing:

Typically, it's Persians, Bengals, Sphynx and Siamese / Orientals that are the breeds which end up in rescue because people haven't done their research or are looking for a status cat because a celebrity has got one.

I'm on several waiting lists for a rescue Siamese or Oriental (tortie point or tortie respectively) but so far nothing suitable has come up.

Rescue cats are the best 🥰
So happy to find their forever home, where their new servants provide all the love and comforts they’ve never known.
Our two are such characters and we’re blessed to have them.

When we took Leo in, he was a bit shocked to see a carpet and toys, wasn't sure what to do with them. We had an old Tortie at the time, who he didn't mither. He sort of chose us when we went to see him. Had a rough first six months with him with gingivitis which was as a result of calicivirus. Once we'd spent £1k on getting his teeth removed (no insurance for a rescue with pre-existing condition) he's been fine since - he's now 7 and only goes to the vet for vaccinations. He carries the virus now, but it's not re-appeared, so he's a house cat with a cat run,so he can't spread it no none vax cats. Lives with three raggies now.
