New Chain and Cassette

Hi

I need a new chain and cassette for my 7 speed bike. I'm looking at the KMC Z7 (4.99gbp, Wiggle) or Z8S (5.99gbp, CRC), leaning towards the latter so I can buy it with the SRAM PG730 Cassette (9.99gbp, CRC) and not pay extra postage at Wiggle.

Any thoughts on the above would be appreciated. I'm also going to need a chain tool to shorten the chain so any suggestions would be welcome.....

Chains are pretty much of a muchness at that level, what you propose makes sense.

Kmc chains are good.

Used my topeak universal chain tool this morning and it worked well.

Took a SRAM cassette of this morning and replaced with Shimano, runs much smoother.

I've just bought a Z8S and find they're OK.

Had another rummage around CRC's website and they actually sell the Z7 for the same price as Wiggle. It just doesn't come up when you search for 'kmc 7 speed'.... :-/

That chain tool looks a good price with good reviews, thanks....

Yeah, my MTB has a Shimano Cassette which seems to work well. Annoyingly Wiggle have got an 8-speed Shimano HG cassette for 56% off, but not the 7 speed which is 15gbp....

Thanks, looks interesting, I spend a lot of time slogging around muddy lanes so anti-rust might be a good idea
