New commute

So today I braved my new commute for the first time, on my new Ribble winter bike. Approximately 10 miles taking todays route (the least icy route!).

Here is a video for the first half of my route. At the end of the video I join my old town commute.

I really enjoyed it today, especially as the roads are quiet at the moment. Should be interesting when the holidays are over! Oh and it's mostly uphill on the way home...:laugh:

(P.S. I am adding some music, but it takes a wee while to kick in.)

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Looks very nice , very similar to my route , mind you i leave the house at 6 am so still dark .

Will you be early enough to be on it before sunrise? It does ass a little more fun.I am currently trying to convince the wife i need a head cam but spending a weeks shopping money on a luxury like that is out of the question

Whoo! finally got your bike! is it good?

Good so far. I like the campag gear lever positions, and it's nice and responsive. It isn't as punchy as my Kinesis, i.e. I don't feel it accelarates quites as fast, but it's pretty good for the price.

I won't be buying from Ribble again though, due to the poor customer service.

Looks a nice commute that Maggers. The snow looks lovely too.

Aye, I really enjoyed the views (which are better in real life). Coming back should be nice when the nights are lighter with the Campsie hills rising up in ahead of me.

Good commute home tonight as well. Certainly harder work and I have to use the smaller front ring!:smile: However, nearly all the drivers were very patient and gave me plenty of room. They must have heard I was coming!

I am tempted to take a new route. Sadly in the areas of London that I live and work there is not too much pretty to look at regardless of what route I take.

Is it just me or is there bloody road works everywhere I go!

I've just found a new route via High Holborn and I think it is very nice.

Yeah roadworks are a pain though.Doubt that you have to contend with that 2012 crap.

Don't get me started on the 2012 works !!.

I work for local government the one thats hosting the Olympics actually and the absolute chaos that will descend on the roads around London particularly East London is going to be a nightmare.

Ive seen the proposed road plans and knowing the roads myself in terms of traffic, my first reaction was to laugh out loud !.

Sorry mags apologies.

I think it was sort of comparing commutes.I've had a ten mile commute since 1994 but it gets badly disrupted now and takes longer.

This will not surprise me in the least.

No worries! Just amusing how a thread can change so quickly!
