Have been thinking of trading in the Trek 7.1FX for something a bit sportier/lighter,think I've narrowed it down to one of the following-
1-Spesh Tricross sport
http://www.leisurelakesbikes.com/product/specializedtricrosssportroadbike2010.aspx?&id=12073
2-Spesh Sirrus Elite
http://www.leisurelakesbikes.com/product/specializedsirruselitebike2010.aspx?&id=11820
3-Spesh Sirrus comp
http://www.leisurelakesbikes.com/product/specializedsirruscompbike2010.aspx?&id=11819
Main needs are light weight,be able to fit guards and maybe a rack, but be quick enough when un-laden.
Any opinions welcome.thanks.
p.s. is the comp version of the sirrus worth the extra £250 over the elite?

I orginally looked at the trek 7.1fx and even ordered it... it took ages to come and in that time i changed my mind for a tricross.... best decision ever i think! I absolutely loved that bike, it will be able to do everything u mention, really quick when un-laden (and with slick road tyres) but will also tkae mud guards, racks etc and its really comfortable!

I used mine to commute, weekend rides, occasional club ride, canal pow paths, I was about to use it for a triathlon as well but it got nicked and now im really really gutted!

Shame about that l4dva,are you getting another?
If I knew how much I was going to like cycling I would have gone for something better from the start, but as a 1st bike it did the job I needed it to,the Tri is top of my list at the moment as i like the drop bars, will be commutering it up whatever i go for so will have guards, rack and M+ tyres so won't be that lightweight once i'm finished with it.
The Sirrus comp looks pretty well specced though for the money,so will have a ride of both before any purchase.
