New facilities

After year of preaching to other companies on the values of sustainable travel (Travel Plans, Transport Assessments, etc), the company has finally listened to us in the Transport Department. We've now got a proper secure bike store and we're going to start the cycle to work scheme later this year. I might get my self a Spesh Tricross . There's also been some discussions on the provision of showers, we'll see

 A result!

I must admit though, I don't know what I would do without showers. I sweat like the proverbial pig!

It's all that anger and bile leaking out in liquid form!

Good news on both fronts. The C2W scheme especially is top and boss.

I must admit I'm building up the courage to suggest improvements to our work facilities, but as we sub-let, I'd be surprised if it went anywhere. We have use of a shower, but recently the rubbish, too-close-together, easily-removed-with-a-spanner wheel-bender bike racks have become over-subscribed. I spend longer trying to lever 'the cad' (my racing green Thorn Sport Tour) into the one remaining, virtually inaccessible wedge than I do getting to work.

fortunately for me my employer ( Royal Mail ) provide very good facilities for showering etc, plus we ( our department) use one of the plant rooms for storing our bikes rather than roughing it outside with the great unwashed at the bike sheds

We've just got the go ahead for cycle to work, but as our 'campus' will be moving in 4/5 years, there is a reluctance to spend anything on it - the good news is that Department Heads have asked for a covered and secure bike shed to be built (it could be moved eventually) as loads of staff said they intend to start cycling to work, but have nowhere secure and dry at the moment......this is without the bike user group pressure...
