Hello. Just found this, sorry!

We're doing really well...he's utterly beautiful. He's being about as good as a baby can be, we're getting a decent amount of sleep and so don't feel too comatose. Life does consist of feeding, burping, nappies and catching some sleep but he's so gorgeous we don't mind at all.

I do get on here every now and again, but it's all a bit chaotic. But we're surviving and we're happy.

Excellent. There will be times, according to my sister, when you want to give him back - mainly when he's about two....;)

I'm sure he's lovely. We'll want more pics soon, you know. They change so fast....

Oh, and my Mum and sister, both of whom saw your bump picture, send their best wishes....

What's he getting for Christmas? He won't have a clue, but you can't help choosing stuff for them! I could have bought hundreds of poundsworth of stuff for Oli...

Err - maybe don't break it to your sister but there is still worse to come....

The reasons just change....

We're happy to keep him although during the night, I would have lent him out for a bit...he fed really well both times but then chuntered away for about an hour and wouldn't settle so we're a bit zombie like today. Arthur? He's sleeping like an angel right now. Little swine.

We're not getting him anything for christmas but we feel really guilty about it already. He doesn't need anything except milk, nappies and love, but I do feel guilty!

Ian...best of luck. Get as much sleep now as you can!

Don't feel guilty. I've got my niece a Christmas decoration to celebrate her first Christmas and will just be giving her some money to put in her child trust fund. She'll only be a couple months old so my sister got loads of stuff when she was born and doesn't need anything else at the moment.

If you get chance .Tryn to get out and visit one of those special Christmas shops or the German market .
Buy a decoration as a reminder of your first Christmas as a mum .

You will not regret it .Thats if you do put up a tree.

Thanks Cathryn for the advice... I think....
Been a long time since the last one, 23 years... so will be a real shock to the system having to go through it all again.

Between the ages of 2 and 5 I wanted to give my two sons back! (Not really). They are wonderful kids now. Best of luck.

P.S. I'm told that the sleep deprivation bit goes on for 16 years. I now manage on 5-6 hours a night with the occasional 8 hour sleep at weekends.

If you are feeling guilty why not get him something for future Christmas's such as choosing/making him a nice stocking that could be used every Christmas.

That's a good idea...might do that.

Any bright ideas on how to help a baby with a cold? Appalling mother that I am, Arthur has a cold already and he's all snuffly.

Sorry guys, I know this is a cycling forum, not mumsnet. I'm gagging to use my bike again...saw some people cycling yesterday and had a real pang. Maybe at the weekend.

Some Olbas oil on a tissue close to the cot and tilt the cot slightly (head higher than feet). This helps them breath easier during the night.

I remember some rough nights due to colds. Oh dear, your bringing back memories and we have our third due next month....arrrghhhh!
