Last year a number of sportives and rides were "interfered" with, shall we say, with objectors claiming that riders were threatening peoples and livestock safety. Yet no animals were killed or injured by riders, and certainly no other road user during these events. Then the Verderers decided to do the pony roundup on the same day as a well known and well advertised cycling event. They tried to claim that riders had endangered them and the ponies etc etc and a war of words waged in the press.

So today a guy I sometimes speak to on twitter took this photo:

Seems they're putting up posters asking for any "infraction" to be reported (we should note that claims made last year were unsubstantiated, some were even false). I thought this was too good a chance to satirise and made my own poster in response:

I've said that I would find it quite funny if someone posted mine under their effort. Because in all seriousness motoring is ruining the Forest in a lot of places.

I took a couple of your posters out with me today & went up to Bramble Hill but alas I didn't see anything that needed "updating"!

I dont tend to ride that way tbh. My parody was simply that, just a cock a snook at the sillyness of it.

I think the person that put up the original rant might be in trouble if caught. For one thing its fly posting, for another its not the done thing to whack tacks in trees as it can damage them. Thinking about it today I doubt they've even gone back to the sites where they've littered.

On a plus side BBC Radio Solent will be mentioning this (and apparently my parody) in their 7am radio show tomorrow. Hopefully they'll raise the sillyness of the original. The station seem a little more down to earth than other media outputs.

Stupid wars mean the New Forest National Park Authority has joined the nimbys in working against the nation.
With a proper bike hire scheme how could they not break even ?

And can't those locals who see it as their own personal forest have their properties compulsory purchased, creating holiday cottages for walkers/cyclists. We could rehome them in a city tower block.
