I've tried looking in the shops and online for new grips but I've not managed to find similar to these which are the ones that came with the bike and have seen better days. They are now starting to split badly.

I like the fact that they are a soft rubber without lots of texture. I often cycle without gloves so want a fairly smooth finish. Tried asking in the Giant store but they don't stock anything like that. Has anyone got any suggestions? Don't mind on price, comfort matters more.

You could try foam grips. Smooth, not textured and soft.

They are five years old and my bike does get knocked over occasionally at work (not by me!) I would really like smooth rubber, does nobody do it? Otherwise I will give the foam ones a chance.

In the time-honoured forum fashion of not answering the question, have you tried palm-shaped grips?

They may not be soft rubber, but I find them much more comfortable than round ones.

What are shaped ones like to hold - does it restrict you to exactly one position on the handlebars?

I never felt restricted but you do need to find your preferred angle. I have all of mine angled upwards which seems to be quite a popular final position.
