New headset claud butler

I need to change the headset on a vintage claud butler late 70s
Could anyone recommend a good looking headset that would work

Depends how much you want to spend and the look you're going for. XLC, Tange, all have made suitable items at varying degrees or pride and quality.

Tange are probably the shortest stack height in olden style.

What headset have you got at the moment, pictures would be helpful.
Do you mean replacing the aheadset, or replacing the bearings and stem in a traditional headset?

I am thinking replace it loads of movement in it

Have you tried adjusting it? Undo the hex nut at the top, tighten the stem using the knurled nut, then do up the hex nut again. It might need a bit of trial and error.

Also, is the stem above the high limit mark so there is not enough stem in the headstock to hold the stem in place.

Looks like it's in good order so would suggest a strip and clean with fresh grease and adjustments.
