Probably, to be honest. You're not going to ride any differently on a £1200 road bike or a £600 one. Not that I practice what I preach.

Nothing in the op suggests they simply want to spend that cash. It might equally be that they think they have to. The op didn't mention either way. I thought I was suggesting they might save some money. My post got deleted. I'm afraid that is the nature of cc, you can make a comment in some areas (sc&p) and get away with it whereas in another sub forum you will get the treatment you have witnessed first hand, c'est la vie!
