Hmm, OK. Do you have the exact model?
Don't know if it's possible on that budget, but an SSD disk makes a stunning difference. Being able to open the laptop and have it ready to go in 2 seconds (yes 2) is just so refreshing. The whole thing just feels more alive. My 6 y.o laptop is dying so would like to invest in a new one.
Spend up to £400
Don't need it to play games.
15-17" screen is fine.
I guess that at the price most are fine, but is there any good deals out there or VFM ones?
Thanks
USB3 allows faster charging for one thing. Handy, not essential.Probably easier for peeps to say which ones to avoid.
And/or to say what is the standout thing to look for? (processing speed??)
Gah, choce, who needs it. Bring back communism.
Oooh, do I need this USB 3 thingy?

Take a look at the laptops pick them up as weight a feel is a big thing with laptops. Find one you like, go home with the make / model and see if you can get it cheaper.
SSD upgrades are relatively painless and cheap depending on the hard drive size. You can get a 120gb SSD for less than £50 now. They do make a difference.
Look for something with at least core i5 (preferably i7) and 4gb RAM minimum.
Take a look at novatech we buy most of our kit from them.
Do you need the extra speed? If not go for the bog standard model.Or is it worth spending a bit more and getting an i5 processor?
Six years out of a laptop is pretty good. I generally get three, topsMy 6 y.o laptop is dying so would like to invest in a new one.

Honestly don't know? Is there some rough way of explaining the difference?
Also, could it (the processor) be updated if I wanted to?
