just ordered my nokia Asha 300 , according to Virgin i can change it within 14 days if i dont get on with it .
A few years ago a Nokia was definitely a good choice......not so anymore. You really would do better going for an Android. I state this as a reluctant convert - and former Nokia fan.

The iPhone is lovely, but I am one of those people who likes to highly customise their phone, make it unique. Thats why Android wins for me every time... theres no limit as to what you can do to them whereas an iPhone is, well, an iPhone....
I agree, but as we all have a unhealthy obsession with apple products at home,I use apps on all devices, but would never ram my ideals into the un believers ,but iTunes vouchers don't last very long!!!

we choose Nokia purely , as at least once a year between us we manage to drop 1 down the loo or into some water and so far they have always come back to life after being in the airing cupboard for a few hrs .

plus i could not fly anything more technical !

Must say that my Nokia N73 ( the phone I Had before I got my Galaxy was a good phone....and I did place it for safe keeping in a tray while helping my step son construct some pig huts - only to find about 2 hours later that the tray I had placed it in had about 2cm of water in it. It still works fine, but the screen is a little washed out (literally!)
Are you renting or buying?

I'd choose equal tie Samsung and iPhone 5, third place HTC. I've been an HTC fan and we've got seversl HTC phones in the family, but they seem to be following Nokia's example of going down the pan fast. Their telephone support really is very poor and if you have a problem that's off-script they can't usually do anything. Shame. However, it doesn't matter as much if it's a rental contract.
My first smartphone was a HTC Desire HD, worked flawlessly, never crashed, never had to battery pull it and it took a fair bit of wear and tear over 2 years. I sent it off to HTC to repair as the volume button was loose, they couldnt source one (despite them being £2 on ebay) so gave me a brand new HTC Sensation, very impressed except thats already broken inside of 3 days and couriers coming tomorrow to take it for a few days at the HTC Spa ;) So far the service has been pretty good, guys on the phone seemed knowledgable and answered questions well and out of contract at 26 months into a 28 month (2 year?) warranty theyve given me a new handset. I don't really get why HTC don't release all their top handsets in the UK though - I want one of these http://www.htc.com/us/smartphones/htc-droid-dna-verizon/

The new Lumia looks really nice, awesome specwise too - just a shame its running Windows and not Android. Id love for Nokia to be good again, though i doubt their smartphones will be quite so indestructable as the one I saw drop 3 floors onto concrete and explode only to work completely perfectly when the pieces were clipped back together. I think most people have an unbelievable indestructable Nokia story!

When my contract ends in August 2013 I'm going to try to see how long I can go without a phone or contract. I blumen hate mobile phones me. I hate the way folk always have them stuck to thier ears, or couples sitting in a restaurant and they've got thier faces in them and they don't speak to each other. I'm going to try and do without, I don't fancy my chances of success but I'm going to try.

S3 hands down.

Cheaper, more customisable, removable battery, memory card slot and plenty of other stuff.
