Most likely because I'm an old git as opposed to a young racing snake I've been finding the standard flat bars a bit too low. After riding my mountain bike more over winter I've realised a couple of inches makes all the difference (as the actress said to the bishop).
New bars bought. Fitted. Removed and cut to width. Fitted again. My brake hose is as tight as a G string... (that's a guitar reference btw). New brake hose bought. Fitted. Bled through. Soaked my brake pads in brake oil (don't ask). New pads bought.
After all this incompetence I got out for ride over the hills today, my legs ache but everything else is fine.
Mission accomplished.
