My advice would be not to bother with CO2... get a really good mini pump to complement the track pump you keep at home.
Lezyne Road Drive will reliably inflate a road tyre to very adequate pressure in very little longer time than CO2.... and weighs about the same as 2 canisters.
If you must have only a single pump for use at home and on the road .... it would have to be one Topeak Morph models.

Thanks guys - I've got a Bontrager track pump which has been fantastic, but i've definitely got to add a small/mini pump to my kit.

If i was going for one pump it would be hard to choose, use it for commuting or club run / long rides where weight can be an issue ?.

I went for the race rocket as i prefer a pump with a hose for the reasons stated but if i was going to have only 1 pump to take with me it would be the road morph as it comes with a foot peg so you can use it as a mini track pump.With the road morph you can get tyres up to pressure at the side of the road very quickly ,it is a fairly large pump , about half the size of the old style pumps that fit under the top tube.

Is it worth £30 .... yes

At 35cms long its obviously not small, but is it going to be heavy? I suppose i've got to ask myself do i want to strap a heavy but effective pump to my light bike or a light but hard working pump to it...

GazP - will you be using your new bike on your commute? If I'm right you do the trip into Cardiff unless there is another CC'er in Pontyclun. If so then I would go along with Cybernight and get some mudguards - not only to keep you dry but to keep a lot of the road sh.. off your bike.
I have just put Crud Roadracer Mk 2's on my Focus and they really do the business.

If i was starting from scratch and wanted to carry light pumps i would look at something like the race rocket or a combi pump/co2 inflator

Hello mate, not quite yet... using the hardtail still on my commute - loves to get dirty.. , has the lights/reflectors etc. Using the new one on the weekends at the mo, but may look at using it on the commute as well come the spring (or when its lighter).. see how it goes. (Edit - not even sure if i have the necessary points on the bike to even fit mudguards....will have to check )

Cheers!! I'll take a look at the smaller (lighter) options... the pocket rocket seems good value but at slightly more the race rocket also looks like an excellent option.

Inner tubes: press down the stalk thingy with your teeth and suck out all the air, roll them tight then tape them up with a couple of plastic tyre levers.

Multi tool: unscrew both ends and reassemble with nutlock or glue on the threads, otherwise the first time you take it out to use it you'll find that it has disassembled itself with the road vibration.
