Have just received and fitted my new Brookes B17 champion narrow saddle, it cost lots!! Now I am having jitters about someone nicking it, as I opted for the honey coulored leather it stands out a bit. Anyone else been in a similar situation? The seat post is an allen key fitting on the frame, not q.r, so short of taking the saddle with me every time I leave it locked up I will just have to take a chance.
I have a long coiled cable lock, but feel that would just draw attention so to speak. Has anyone ever had a saddle nicked? Incidentally, I replaced the seat post at the same time and now can't believe that I put up with one of those ridiculous spring loaded seat posts (as supplied with my hybrid) for so long.
Regards, Goldfang.

If you're happy with the height and angle, superglue a ball bearing into the head of the allen bolt (both for the seatpin and for the saddle cradle clamp).

If you need to make any adjustments at a later date, use acetone (nail varnish remover) to dissolve the superglue.

As the earlier post said, get a gel saddle cover and keep this in your pannier or backpack. I do this.

I put it on when it's raining to keep the leather dry.

To be honest, only a bike enthusiast ever notices that it's a Brooks and they're not usually the thieving type, but the gel cover is good for wet weather.

Someone I know had their Brooks saddle nicked recently so the fear is justified.

Yup me too except, I use a Brooks saddle cover. Also get a decent padlock and put it round the saddle rails and then to a coil/cable that is wrapped round the rest of your bike.

A bog standard long cable tie will stop anyone without cutters removing the saddle

Another option is a kyriptonite cable. The do some small/thin ones designed to secure panniers with a loop at each end. One through the saddle, other through your normal lock (or PClip/jubilee clip/bolt/cable tie to your frame)

I have a cheapy combi chain from asda permanently wrapped round the seat stays and through the two rails of the brooks, never moves off unless i need to secure extra shopping onto the rack.

always bung a shopping bag over to keep the leather dry (only forgotten 3 times, only got wet once)

it's funny that you feel like protecting it when its new, but now mines broken in, and its more valuable (to me) but I feel less like protecting it

Too trusting by far. There are those who recognise good bike parts and would spirit them away to flog on eBay.

Take the saddle with you - makes the cycle slightly more difficult to ride off with.

When I went to college I used to remove the front wheel and thread a D Lock through front and rear wheels through the frame to the cycle rack and take my saddle into lectures.
